Differentiating between different guitars
hi everyone, since my passion is on playing the guitar, i would just like to write a short entry on the different kinds of guitars. this is just come common knowledge to know because i've realised that many people cannot differentiate between different guitar sounds.
so here we go, just a short description about different types of guitars. I will be covering 4 different types of guitars in this entry. They are the classical guitar, the acoustic guitar, the bass guitar, and the electric guitar.
the classical guitar as the name says, is a 6 string guitar which uses nylon strings. It is usually used for instrumental pieces. the best example i can think of is to imagine a spanish piece, or imagine... Zorro, or the 3 Amigos, that kind of music. it uses a classical guitar to play it.
the acoustic guitar on the other hand, is also a 6 string guitar, but it uses steel strings instead. It is commonly heard over the radio. Examples of songs which uses the acoustic guitar are like "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz, or even "Collide" by Howie Day.
the bass guitar normally comes with 4 strings, but with that being said, there are also 5 string and 6 string bass guitars in the market. It uses steel strings, but different from the acoustic because their strings are much bigger in size (large gauge). An example of how a bass guitar sounds would be to imagine the song "With or Without You" by U2. it's a classic song which i think most of you should know. The bass guitar is that constant droning sound that you hear.
the electric guitar is a 6 string guitar and it uses steel strings too. however, they have specific kinds of strings for the electric (usually thinner than the acoustic strings), but you can't go wrong when buying them because the packaging makes it clear that they are electric guitar strings. The electric guitar can produce a wide range of sounds depending on the effects pedal which you connect the guitar to. The most common effect that you can hear over the radio is the distortion effect. Just imagine the song..."Ain't Talking About Love" by Van Halen. it uses a lot of distortion effects.
hope this entry has been informational to you.
